Louisville Assembly Plant | On Track for Ford Fathom™ Launch

Ford Fathom™ midsize electric truck production begins at Louisville Assembly Plant next year, following a $2 billion factory retool. Watch how the new Universal EV Production System is changing the way electric vehicles are assembled. In late 2025, Louisville Assembly Plant went dark for a complete retool. Crews stripped out gas-vehicle tooling in the 3 million square foot facility, hauling out thousands of tons of steel until the factory floor stood empty. What replaced it: Ford's bold and new Universal EV Production System, tearing up the traditional assembly line and re-inventing it into three parallel build paths — front clip, rear clip, and battery deck for efficiency. It's partly enabled by the use of large unicastings, where a single aluminum casting replaces dozens of stamped and welded parts in the front and rear, plus a battery deck that doubles as the vehicle's floor and serves as part of its structure. Learn more about how the Ford team is quickly bringing this new electric vehicle production system to life ahead of the Fathom™ launch. Preorders begin early 2027.
